If your car is slipping, changing gear with a jolt, or slow to go into Drive, we'll find out why. Not every rough gear change means a big repair. Sometimes it's the fluid, a sensor, or even an engine fault. We test first, then explain your options.

Transmission servicing and repairs in Papamoa

Signs your transmission needs a check
  • Slipping, or revving high without speeding up

  • Hard or jerky gear changes

  • A delay going into Drive or Reverse

  • Shuddering or vibration, especially when pulling away

  • Whining or humming that changes with speed

  • Red or brown fluid under the car

  • A transmission or check engine light

What we do
  • Ask questions. Does it happen cold or warm? Accelerating or slowing down? Towing? It all helps.

  • Check the basics. Fluid level and condition, leaks, mounts and wiring.

  • Scan and test. We read the fault codes and live data, then check the engine too, because an engine fault can feel like a gearbox problem.

  • Road test, when it's safe to.

  • Explain and estimate. What we found, why it matters, and what your options are.

Transmission fluid wears out. Old fluid doesn't protect the gearbox as well, and it can lead to rough changes and expensive damage. A transmission service replaces the fluid with the type your car's maker specifies. We service automatics, CVTs and DSGs.
